NORTHAMPTON — The start of the weekend could be wet and windy.
The National Weather Service is predicting hazardous weather Friday and into the weekend.
On Friday, there will likely be fog and up to a half inch of rain which may continue into the evening. Winds may reach 20 miles per hour, and there may be brief but heavy snow in the later evening with minor accumulations possible. Expect temperatures to be between 30 and 44 degrees.
“It will just continue to rain for most of the day,” said Lenore Correia, a meteorologist at NWS Boston/Norton, adding that it will switch to snow in the evening.
Strong winds, 35 to 45 miles per hour, are predicted to hit on Saturday. It is possible wind advisories will be issued, according to the NWS. “It will just be a windy day, unfortunately,” Correia said.
Temperatures lows over the weekend will be 21 degrees on Saturday and Sunday heating up to 56 degrees and skies will be clear.
