Hampshire County streets closed by flooding reopen

Roads closed across the county Thursday after scattered flooding from heavy rain were reopened Friday morning.

Granby police reported that Chicopee Street was closed Thursday night.

Flooding also hit parts of Hadley, closing East Street between Newton Lane and Rocky Hill Road, which was subsequently opened back up Thursday night.

The Hadley Police Department Facebook post that announced the closure said that due to an expected drop in temperature standing water on roads is expected to freeze and create hazardous road conditions.

Belchertown police said Thursday night that there was sporadic flooding, but no road closures.

No significant flooding was reported in Easthampton, or by Northampton, Amherst, or South Hadley police.

By Friday morning, all roads closed due to flooding were open.
