Stebbins Wildlife Refuge, Pondside Road, Longmeadow
Photograph and text by Rosemary Polletta, Springfield
Early on a Saturday morning late in October, I searched for late-migrating birds at Stebbins Wildlife Refuge in Longmeadow. It was dark and very foggy. Suddenly the sunrise burned through the dense fog. It was mesmerizing, a reward for arriving in the darkness. I quickly framed the image, my heart beating rapidly. The image captures the sense of place in that fleeting moment. Created with my tripod mounted DSLR and a zoom lens.
